Life with LI-FI - the sparkle of the future!

Imagine a world with cables and wires lying all around, connecting the various internet devices we use with little space for movement! It will be terrible indeed but for the tech innovation called WI-FI that we have already started using extensively! But, there is now a strong competitor called LI-FI heralding an era of terrific speed, security, and convenience! Before we proceed on, let us get these WI-FI and LI-FI internet communication jargons straight and then see the pros and cons of each.
While most of us would be aware of WI-FI, it is LI-FI that needs to be more elaborated on. First let us explore WI-FI, a powerful technology on which we are presently so dependent on. In layman terms, Wireless Fidelity, nicknamed WI-FI, uses radio waves to allow data transmission in a computer network. The wireless router and the modem help serve this purpose.
Now to introduce LI-FI which is the most powerful growing technology and demands the attention of one and all! Light Fidelity, nicknamed LI-FI, uses light (as its name suggests), instead of radio waves to transmit information in a computer network. A simple LED bulb can serve the purpose along with a driver, which controls the illumination of LED bulbs and an optical sensor, which detects the data and converts it into a language understood by the internet device.  Now that we have had a bird’s eye view of these internet jargons let us proceed to analyze the pros and cons of LI-FI.
Pros:
·        LI-FI gives a completely new dimension to the meaning of speed. It is almost a hundred times faster than that of WI-FI. Imagine downloading 20 full length movies in a split of a second. Well LI-FI can do it!
·        LI-FI gives immense security as light cannot pass through walls and connections remain well fortified which means hacking of data is out of question. Therefore no password is required for a LI-FI internet connection.
·        Li-FI can be used in places like hospitals and aircrafts where interference of radio signals would cause a big problem.
·        LI-FI is eco-friendly and there is less energy consumption as compared to that of WI-FI.
·        There is only minimum health hazard with regard to light as compared to that of radio waves.
·        LI-FI requires minimum effort in deployment as the required infrastructure like LED bulbs which are already present in cell phones and tablet cameras in the form of flash bulbs is available.

Cons:
As we all know, every technology has certain disadvantages along with advantages associated with it and LI-FI is no exception. Some of them are,
it cannot be used in direct sunlight as it interferes with the LED signals,
accessibility is limited as it is confined within four walls,
light source is a necessity for internet connection etc.
But one need not get disheartened that LI-FI is confined to only four walls. A simple LED bulb in a room is all that is required for a I-FI connectivity.
Haas, a professor at Edinburg university in Scotland was the first to create a working model of a LI-FI system. He is sure LI-FI will come into the lives of the common man in the near future with all its present barriers removed.

Now that we have analyzed the pros and cons of this growing technology taking tremendous strides, will LI-FI overtake WI-FI in the near future or work alongside with it! Well let time side.
